but actually, you areIn all seriousness, these cultural artifacts are merely inanimate objects. They have no real meaning. We as humans place our own subjective value to the objects around us. Cultural symbols may yield major significance to certain people, but to others they dont. You aren’t allowed to dictate the purpose and use of an inanimate object just because your subjective cultural perspective gives it a specific meaning.
huh, funny how that works
In all seriousness, cultural artifacts have real meaning because their significance in our cultures as signs, representing cultural signifiers that, despite your prevarications to the contrary, constitute the signified which in turn lend these signs value beyond individual subjectivity.
That you and yours do not feel burdened by the value we place on these signs is hardly our problem, nor does it really lend you the authority to deny that value out of hand. The fact is that these things do not belong to you, or anyone but us.
This is, of course, aside from the fact that, in employing these cultural expressions as signs by the dominant cultural paradigm, that dominant culture applies its own signifiers to these expressions which re-defines the signified. The use of our cultural expressions in this way reinforces and recycles the same disgusting stereotypes which led you to call trillationship ‘sacagewea’
As if she doesn’t exist as a human, only as some kind of dehumanized indian caricature.
So, go fuck yourself, you basic, bigoted, pseudo-intellectual piece of shit.
Your smug, self-applied authority does not actually mean any of us have to listen to you.
